Fall Cleanup Tips for Bergen County

Every fall, homeowners dread the weekend routine of raking leaves and debris off the lawn. Leaf cleanup is time consuming, hard on your body and something that must be done a few times before all the leaves are finally off the trees.

The Paramus landscapers at Danmar Landscapes offer a comprehensive fall cleanup in Bergen County for any homeowners who would prefer to enjoy a weekend of relaxation rather than yard work, but if you do decide to tackle this task on your own or you need to do some cleaning here-and-there, we have offered a few tips that can make this a little easier on you, your back and your schedule.
  • Work smart – drag your leaves to a pile that is near your curb. Work from the back end and sweep up towards your main pile. Don’t drag leaves over where you have already cleaned.
  • Use a good rake – your old rusty metal rake is not going to cut it anymore. Look for an affordable rake that has a good grip, wide collection area and strong tines that can make your life easier.
  • Rake when it is dry – wet leaves are heavier and messier than dry leaves. Wait for a crisp and dry day and try to avoid the slimy wet leaves.

These tips can help save you time and energy, but if you are truly looking for an alternative to yard cleanup in Bergen County, contact the experts at Danmar Landscapes. We can make this task convenient, efficient, quick and easy for you with just a phone call.

North Jersey Snow Preparation

Many New Jersey towns have be rethinking their snow removal procedures. Due to the 2011 October snow storm, towns have been planning in advance to ensure citizens do not encounter the same problems. That storm left many New Jersey residents without power for days on end, and caused major damage to power lines and trees. Many towns have increased the number of plow trucks on the roads, and increased their salt stockpiles. The cleanup of that storm was not something the towns or citizens were used to.
This storm also took many citizens by surprise. Many people had not prepared their snow-blowers or even thought about purchasing melting salt. And when the storm hit, most retailers were under-stocked on the preparations. It was a dystopian setting, which New Jersey residents had to relive the following year with Super Storm Sandy.

This list will help you prepare for any winter storms we may see in New Jersey.

  • Flashlights and extra batteries in case of power outages
  • High energy foods, such as dried fruits, and canned food that does not require heating
  • First-aid supplies
  • Put all of your warm winter blankets somewhere easily accessible so you don't have to go digging for them when you really need them.
  • Make sure your car has a full tank of gas, if you leave your car with a very minimal amount of gas in the tank it does have a potential to freeze.
  • Go for mittens rather than gloves, they will keep your hands warmer.
  • Sturdy waterproof boots are a must for New Jersey Winters.

If you do not want to go through the trouble of removing the snow from your property there are services out there that offer snow removal. Shoveling is consuming and physically demanding, and if you are not properly equipped can become a bigger problem than you imagined. Danmar Landscaping offers Bergen County snow removal for both residential and commercial properties.
